Red Elderberry

from $30.00

Sambucus racemosa

This Utah native shrub is among the most stunning late summer fruits. Its clusters of berries stand erect on their stem as they begin to ripen, and eventually the whole bunch droops under the weight. These berries show the transition from green to bright red, just before they begin to droop.

The graphite details are right to left: flower inflorescence, enlarged flower, enlarged berry, transverse section of berry, and seeds.
