This Utah native rose is important for the ecosystem, as well as beautiful. The roots stabilize the soil, the rose hips are an important food source for wildlife, the plant forms thickets which provide shelter for small birds and mammals. People can enjoy the rose hips as well. They can be a good source of vitamin c, used for tea, or jelly. The inner bark can be boiled to treat diarrhea or stomach ailments. It is also a lovely ornamental plant for gardens that are a little wild.
