Big Tooth Maple is a Utah native tree. My backyard is filled with these medium sized shade providing beauties. They look fabulous in clusters. Fox squirrels visit to eat the seeds throughout the winter, and our neighborhood coopers hawk loves to perch on their branches.
You can pretty easily find it in the lower parts of canyons along the Wasatch Front. In the autumn, it is the tree that is bright orange and red. The sap of this tree is sweet, though not as sweet as a sugar maple.
