Orange Milkweed and Monarch
Asclepias tuberosa and Danaus plexippus
Watercolor and Graphite on Paper
11×14” in 16×20” frame
Orange milkweed is a Utah native milkweed. It is different from other milkweeds in that it doesn’t have the milky sap that others have. It also has less toxins, which makes it less desireable for monarchs to lay their eggs on it, but it can still serve as a host plant. We don’t really get monarch butterflies in Utah, but we have milkweed if they ever did decide to stop by.
