Paintbrush

My next project is paintbrush, not the kind I use to paint, but the hemi-parasitic ones that grow among the wildflowers.

Hemi-parasitic is a big word, it means paintbrush can produce its own food, and it steals from other plants without killing the host.

There are several types of paintbrush, I’m painting Castilleja linariflolia which is Wyoming’s state flower. It is also native to Utah. This one is a vibrant orangey red.
