Garlic Scapes

Allium sativum var. ophioscorodon

Graphite on paper, 6 x 9”

I grow my own garlic in my garden. One of the many benefits is being able to harvest the stems, also called scapes, for adding to my cooking. Not only does this practice make for yummy stir fries, but it helps the garlic bulbs grow larger.

I illustrated these elegant veggies in graphite.
